You know that person at work you barely exchanged a word with — the one whose presence you scarcely even noticed?

Well… life has a peculiar way of turning the unexpected into something extraordinary. That person may very well become the love of your life.

Our paths first crossed at OCBC in late 2022. Bella was part of the Secured Loan Division, while David belonged to the Emerging Business Division. In early 2023, Bella was transferred to the EMB Division, placing us within the same team.

At the time, we were nothing more than coworkers who seldom acknowledged one another.

Everything began to change in early 2024, shortly after I moved into my new home in Gunung Anyar. Coincidentally, David lived nearby and had spent most of his life in that area. One day, I asked him for recommendations on local food spots around the neighborhood. To my surprise, the following day he invited me to join him on the city tour bus ride over the weekend — and I accepted.

That was the very first time he picked me up from my new home.

During that ride, we found ourselves immersed in conversations that extended far beyond work. For the first time, I discovered an entirely different side of him outside the office walls, and perhaps he discovered a different side of me as well.

After that city tour, David began asking me out more frequently — to cafe, shopping malls, and even movie dates. I accepted each invitation, genuinely believing he was simply a coworker seeking companionship. However, after three to four months of unexpectedly growing closer, I began sensing that there was something more beneath the surface.

That was when I realized David had liked me all along.

One evening, driven purely by curiosity, I finally asked him, “Do you like me?”

And that night, David confessed everything.

From that moment onward, I decided to give us a chance — and we have remained together ever since.

And the punchline? We’re getting married in July 2026 because apparently, when the universe decides that two people are destined for one another, not even living on different continents can alter its plans.
